The Venue

Nestled by the river in the heart of Cambridge, Trinity Hall is one of its oldest colleges. It is famed for its beautiful gardens and intimate atmosphere. Notable alumni include the physicist Stephen Hawking, the writer J. B. Priestley and the actor Rachel Weisz (oh, and Nick also went there).

While you’re there, step straight off Latham Lawn and into a punt, to take you on a leisurely tour of the river, from which you can see many famous colleges (such as King’s, St. John’s, and the inferior Trinity). Also check out the Old Library, which dates back to Tudor times and contains in its archives a letter written by Charles Dickens and a 15^th Century atlas (complete with the exotic ‘island’ of Brazil).

Practical Information

Travel

Make sure you head to Trinity HALL and not Trinity COLLEGE. If you do end up at the wrong one it’s right next door, just ask the friendly porters for the way.

Car

Cambridge has limited parking in the city centre, a list of car parks can be found here: Parking in Cambridge. There is also a Park & Ride service, see Cambridge Park & Ride for info.

Train

There are frequent trains to Cambridge from London King’s Cross and London Liverpool St. stations. It’s about a half hour walk to Trinity Hall from the station, so you may want to book a taxi or take a bus to the centre.

Air

Stansted is the nearest airport. It’s then 30min by train from the airport to Cambridge. Other airports are London Heathrow and London Gatwick. From there get the train/tube into London and make your way to King’s Cross or Liverpool St. Station to get the train.

Accommodation

There are a limited number of hotels in Cambridge within walking distance of Trinity Hall. The wedding party are staying at the Hilton Cambridge City Centre. Other hotels nearby include:

• Graduate Cambridge, formerly the Cambridge Hotel
• Regency House
• Gonville Hotel

Colleges also have some rooms available for guests. Trinity Hall has a small number of single rooms on its main site, and some double rooms at an accommodation block a short taxi ride away. If you would like to book one of these please let us know. Other colleges near Trinity Hall with rooms include St. Catherine’s College, Christ’s College, Jesus College and Downing College.

It is also possible to stay outside the city centre of Cambridge and get a bus or taxi in.

The greatest gift will be seeing as many of you as possible at our wedding! However, if you insist on giving a present, we have recently bought a house together, so any contribution you can make to help us furnish it would be gratefully received.
